| ok so I am terrible at developing reads, even when I like 6 table and pay really close attention to everyone. I just don't know what to look for and furthermore how to apply it in game. Does anyone have any suggestions or any literature I can have in regards to this? |

Wow, really? Sorry, but I just assumed you'd be pretty good at it, cause, you know, your Blotkis! NB - no taking the piss meant here!
This feel likes the obv, but I gather reads from..
1) Villian's stats ldo!
2) My stats or perceived image.
3) Notes on hands that villian has showndown, to show how they play postflop.
4) Bet sizing
5) Timing tells.
6) What's happened to a villian in regards to the last, say, 2 orbits.
Like with #6, I remember a few days ago, I opened small PP in MP, villian on my direct left 3B their CO, BTN called, folds to me so I called. I flopped nothing, but the other two villians got it all in on 468ss; 3Bettor had T8s (but not spades), and the 3bet caller had QQ.
So okay, my read is that this guy is a plain retard, kinda 3bets for the sake of it without really thinking about ranges, probably way too optimistic with their hands. I'm also reading this villian for being on tilt over at least the next few orbits.
2 hands later, villian opens UTG, folds to my BB with AKo, and I figure hey, why not I'll just flat, and let this guy spazz postflop if I hit TP+. Well I flopped gin, but even better the board was like TJQcc; I chked, villian bet pot, I raised 4X trying to rep a draw, villian complied and spazz shoved KTo.
Def not optimal to be flatting AKo in the BB, but I figured 1) he's likely on tilt, 2)I massively under-rep my hand, and if I hit like TP+ on a wet board, I can rep a draw, and 3) I wanted to let villian keep the initiative in the hand.
Can you post a ~40min video? We could watch this, and go okay well villians done blah blah blah whatever, I'd read him for this, and for these reasons...

Vs regs you play going back through HEM and taking notes on them is definitely valuable. I know some guys will spend like a half hour a day or something on a reg at their level.
It's definitely better to keep reads more simple, and not overapply them to situations. I also just kinda do my best to see how guys are playing every session so I don't overadjust, and that everybody can play differently day to day.
Common notes I take are like:
Doesn't bluff missed draws when checked to on river - DNB missed draws WCT on Ri.
3bet shoved FD, or Flatted Ch/r with FD.
I try to make my reads be ones that can apply to the most standard spots. Getting reads is definitely a skill that can only be practiced alot to get better at;) |

how tight / loose preflop - so we can develop a hand range. And with each street of action (ie more info) further narrow or widen this range. Then sprinkle in bet sizing and timing tells. Also look for specific patterns that this player repeats - most helpful to notice after seeing shown down hands.
It just takes hours upon hours upon hours to fully integrate all of this together to the point where it is just subconscious and your 'soul reads' become more and more accurate.
hope this helps |

| One thing that I always look for is to look for evidence (hand history) of this player and determine whether he's more likely to make a bad call against me or whether he's more likely to bluff me when i show weakness, then play accordingly. |
